Svenska is a Swedish learning app operated by Igor Belogurov. For privacy questions or requests, email underdevelopment.cc@gmail.com.
Information we use
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive an account identifier, email address and profile information provided by that service. We use these to authenticate you and connect your learning progress to your account. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
We store your learning progress, review history, saved words and personal lists to provide and sync the app. The app also keeps local data on your device. Pronunciation audio is played locally; Svenska does not record your microphone. Study reminders are local notifications.
If you request beta access on our website, we store your email, selected platform and the history of your request and access emails. When self-service access is available, we send one-time installation instructions using Resend. For Android, you join the testing Google Group yourself using your Google account before opting in on Google Play. For iPhone, you join using a public TestFlight link. Earlier individually approved invitations and their delivery history may also be stored. Google and Apple process your participation under their own policies.
If you choose to complete our feedback survey, we store your selected answers, optional comments, an optional self-reported name, submission reference and timestamps in Convex. The survey does not require an account or email, and we do not automatically link its answers to your app account or verify the name you provide. Leave the name blank to answer anonymously. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in comments. Your draft stays in this tab until you send it; reloading clears the draft. Survey contents are not sent to website analytics.
Diagnostics and analytics
Sentry processes crash and error diagnostics, including technical device and app information and a pseudonymous account identifier. We configure it not to attach screenshots, screen recordings, names or email addresses; diagnostic events are filtered before sending.
In the mobile app, PostHog processes usage events and session recordings when Share usage analytics is enabled. Recordings may show lesson content, images, typed practice answers and dictionary searches. We mask account names and email addresses, personal list names, feedback notes and access codes. Analytics uses a pseudonymous account identifier and technical device and app information. You can disable analytics and session recording in Profile → About & account → Privacy → Share usage analytics.
On our website, PostHog processes page views and form submission outcomes, without form contents or email addresses. Website session recording and automatic interaction capture are disabled. Website analytics starts only after you choose Allow. Choose No to keep using the website without analytics. You can change your choice or withdraw consent at any time through Analytics settings in the footer. We store only your yes/no choice in this browser’s local storage; PostHog identifiers are not persisted between page loads. With consent, PostHog receives technical browser information alongside these events.
Service providers
We use Convex for the backend and authentication storage, Sentry for diagnostics, PostHog for mobile analytics and session replay and website analytics, Resend for access emails, Vercel for website hosting, and Google or Apple for sign-in and beta distribution. Providers process information needed to deliver these services. Our active Convex backend is hosted in the EU; diagnostic and analytics endpoints are configured in Europe. Providers may also process data in other locations under their applicable arrangements.
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. Svenska currently has no advertising, purchases or subscriptions.
Retention and deletion
Account and learning data are retained while your account is active. You can request removal of your account and associated learning data using the account deletion instructions. Active app and authentication records are removed by the deletion process. External processing and backup expiry may complete separately. A minimal deletion-operation record is retained for recovery while the operation is pending; completed records are scheduled for removal after 30 days. Diagnostics follow the provider's configured retention and are not automatically erased by signing out.
You can also contact us to request access, correction or deletion of your personal information, including a beta application, or to ask about retention. We may verify account ownership before acting on a request. You may raise a concern with your local data protection authority.
Changes
We update this page when our data practices change and revise the date above. Enabling additional app analytics requires an updated disclosure.
